14 Percent

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have hit a new all-time low, breaking their own record. Zogby's poll shows (drumroll, please): 14 PERCENT . . . of respondents rated Congress' performance as excellent or good. Last October, in its final days, the Republican-led Congress earned ratings of excellent or good from 23 percent of voters. "There is a growing sense that people voted for change in 2006 and they aren't getting it," Zogby said. We think there is also a growing sense that the Dems are sinking because they are surging for defeat.  Who approves of people who want us to lose a war? 14 percent, apparently.

Impeach Reid and Pelosi

The Crypt (H/T The Tank)reminds us why we originally named this site Impeach Reid and Pelosi dot com: Pelosi, Reid to announce new push to end Iraq war Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) are expected tomorrow to announce a new coordinated effort to force votes in July to end the Iraq war, according to Democratic insiders. Reid has already publicly declared that Senate Democrats will offer four Iraq-related amendments to the upcoming 2008 Defense authorization bill, including a proposal by Reid and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) to set a firm timetable to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq by next spring. Pelosi is planning to announce ...

Here We Go Again

Continuing with their strategy of "if we say it long enough and loud enough it must be true," Harry "Surrender" Reid and Nancy "I Heart Syria" Pelosi said today (again) that the surge has failed. What a surprise. Their letter to President Bush starts off with three quick lies: 1. "As many had forseen, the escalation has failed to produce the intended results." The last boots just got on the ground last week. How could we have produced all of the intended results this quickly? In fact, the President has said that the earliest we could begin to gauge The Surge would be September. All of that notwithstanding, this is still ...

In Big Oil’s Back Pocket

From CNNMoney.com: A new survey by the National Retail Federation said rising gasoline prices are a growing worry for consumers and retailers as prices at the pump hit a record high for a sixth straight day Friday. The motorist group AAA said the average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded hit $3.129 in its latest reading, based on a daily survey of up to 85,000 gas stations. That's up from Thursday's record of $3.114. The group warned in congressional testimony this week it believes that more record prices could be on the way. It's forecasting prices will approach $3.25 a gallon over the next 60 days. Neil Cavuto reminds us (video | transcript) of what some key Democrats have ...

Attack Our Troops… Please!

The editors over at National Review Online have published an article criticizing the House vote to fund the next several months of the war in two parts. "$42.75 billion — enough to fund operations through July 31 — would be released right now. The president would have to report on progress in Baghdad by July 13, and then a second vote would be required to release the remaining $52.8 billion, which would carry the military through the end of the fiscal year in October." Setting arbitrary withdrawal dates was bad enough, but this is ridiculous. When you tell your enemy, "We'll be gone by the end of 2008," you give them an incentive to lay low and ...

Madame Saboteur

National Review Online hammers Nancy Pelosi and accurately characterizes the Dems latest attempt at not funding the war as "sabotage." The two-part approach would hobble the military’s ability to conduct operations in Iraq and decrease its readiness worldwide . . . To begin with, it would make proper planning impossible for commanders in the field. House Democrats are effectively saying, “You have two months to prove that you are winning, or else . . .” Of course, it’s taking Congress longer than that simply to fund the war, an incomparably easier task. Apart from the unreasonableness of this demand, the bill would probably also guarantee a fiercer foe: Al Qaeda in Iraq would have a strong ...

Pelosi: Words Not Weaponry

Nancy Pelosi told graduates at Webster University that "Words, not weaponry, are the tools of a new civilization." What words would have prevented radical Islamists from attacking the USS Cole, from blowing up our embassies, or from flying planes into skyscrapers full of innocent Americans?  Words are nice--and necessary.  But words only have meaning when backed up by weaponry.  Being an expert on diplomatic alliances (see here, here, and here) Pelosi also said that "Today, the world still looks to America for leadership and hope . . .  We must respond with respect and cooperation, and not disregard ...
