The “Courageously Incoherent” Chuck Hagel
Mickey Kaus yesterday on Senator Footnote:
Reminder: Back in January, the courageously incoherent Sen. Chuck Hagel called the "surge"
"the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam, if it's carried out."
He got lots of glowing coverage. But whatever the surge is, it isn't that. ... Why mention this? In case anyone feels an urge to draft MSM favorite Hagel for president on the Unity'08 ticket. ... 1:36 P.M.

Hagel: We need conciliators like Harry and Ike
Chuck Hagel has waxed eloquent once again in his on-going critique of the Iraq war. Senator Me said we need to be less militaristic in the war on terror and dialogue more with terrorist states like Iran and Syria.
Hagel Skewers Iraq War, Defends Greenspan's Oil Comments
September 27, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - Speaking at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law on Monday, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) said that the United States needed to take a less militaristic approach to the war on terrorism and make a greater effort at dialogue with Middle East nations.
"Until we get all the great powers involved in some way, we will find ourselves bogged down in the ...

Senator Me and the Great Divide
Chuck Hagel (a/k/a Senator Me) embarassed our Red State bloviating before Gen. Petraeus today. He as much as said that he would not believe the general--that this administration could not be trusted and the general was just a pawn of the administration.
"C'mon!" he bellowed, "Where's it (Iraq) going?"
He tacitly accused Gen. Petraeus of cooking the numbers. It was clear he was not buying what the general was saying about progress in Iraq. He would not be convinced. He chose to take the word of 7 isolated NCO's who expressed their personal opinions in the NYTimes a few weeks ago over Gen. Petraeus's thorough analysis.
Hagel would ...

Hagel Hounded Out
Everyone: collective exhale. Chuck Hagel is not running for President. Even better, he's not running for re-election:
Hagel won't seek re-election
BY DON WALTON / Lincoln Journal Star
Sen. Chuck Hagel will announce Monday he’ll not seek re-election next year.
Hagel also will tell an Omaha news conference he does not intend to be a candidate for any office in 2008, clamping a lid on speculation he might be pondering a late-inning presidential bid.
Pfheeww!!
Senator Me had made a living by going on the Sunday talk shows and running down the President and the war:
Hagel’s departure at the end of 2008 will bring an end to a meteoric 12-year Senate ride that propelled him to national prominence as ...

HAGEL HOUND: Where oh Where has our Senator Gone? Where oh Where Can He Be?
Have you noticed? For some unknown reason, the greatest military authority in American history has stopped sharing his wisdom with us. Where have you gone, Chuck Hagel?
Here is what Senator Sanctimony said, not so very long ago, in the Washington Post:
"There will be no victory or defeat for the United States in Iraq. . ."
Uh, huh.
"The time for more U.S. troops in Iraq has passed. We do not have more troops to send and, even if we did, they would not bring a resolution to Iraq. . ."
Yeah, that is just what I was thinking as well.
"The United States must begin planning for a phased troop withdrawal from Iraq. . . .It is not too late. The United States can ...

The Universal Sign of Surrender
Harry "This War is Lost" Reid has already surrendered.    Â
Chuck's hand gestures and comments on the war in Iraq suggest that he too is prepared to surrender.   Higher, Chuck, higher. Then your body language will completely match your rhetoric.

HAGEL HOUND: Senator Hagel, AWOL
Pardon the Hound for the presumption that when two units of the Nebraska National Guard, the 1-167th Cav and the 134th Infantry, returned from 15 months of service to freedom, Nebraska's most famous war veteran Chuck Hagel would be on hand, thanking our troops for service to their great nation. Brothers in arms, one would think.
After all, as we say out west -- that's in Western Nebraska, Chuck -- one couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a politician. Governor Heineman came; Mayor Beutler of Lincoln; Congressmen Fortenberry; shoot, even Adrian Smith from the 3rd District showed up to thank the troops. Ben Nelson and his great hair gave them their due. Word has it that sweet old ...

Could You Take Chuck With You?
New York mayor Michael Bloomberg announced today that he is leaving the GOP. Good riddance.
I'm sure the Hagel Hound would have a question for Mike: Could you take your buddy Chuck with you?

Want Zbigniew Brzezinski for President? Support Chuck Hagel
In an article entitled "Look Back in Anger--The Unmooring of Chuck Hagel," The New Republic interviewed a number of people about the Hagel Hound's favorite target. Here is what the worst President in history's National Security Advisor had to say about Chuck:
Former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski says of Hagel, "I like the guy, and I admire his views. We see eye-to-eye on the majority of issues. I won't say we see eye-to-eye on every issue, but if you ask what we don't agree on, I wouldn't be able to answer."
Cindy Sheehan also sees eye to eye with Chuck on most issues.
Yikes.
