Still Not at War

John Edwards repeated his claim in the Dem debate last night that the War on Terror is just a bumper sticker slogan. The New York Times reported:
A day after four men were charged with attempting to sabotage Kennedy International Airport, the candidates were asked whether the Bush administration’s war on terrorism had been a success domestically. Mr. Edwards said that it had not, calling it “a global war on terror bumper sticker — political slogan, that’s all it is.â€
Well, John, bumper stickers don’t knock down tall buildings or blow up airports.
The Left’s primary problem is that they don’t believe we are at war despite Al Qaeda’s statements and continuing actions to the contrary. There is a term for the side of a conflict that doesn’t recognize the conflict: a sitting duck. When I was young we went duck hunting. It was a real art to sneak up on the unsuspecting fowl without making a peep–no twig snapping or sneezing allowed. You had to make sure that you didn’t disturb the ducks on the walk to the pond or they would be on alert that you were about to commit an act of violence on them and take off.
When the ducks didn’t hear or see us coming it was a slaughter. They were sitting ducks.
With the latest plot to blow up JFK foiled John still doesn’t get it. Even though we’ve heard and seen the enemy coming, he still thinks there is no War on Terror.
With John Edwards a/k/a “The Breck Girl” or any of the Dems at the helm, we would be sitting ducks–just as we were before 9/11.
God help us.
